Assignment on Nicenet


Introduction
Nicenet is a website which is helpful to create and join the classes online.  The Internet Classroom Assistant (ICA) is designed to address the pedagogical needs and limited resources of teachers and their students. It has replaced the traditional classroom and make the students capable to create and join their own classes according their wish. They can join the classes of the subject that they like. Nice net is a web-based tool for running an educational program at any level: a college course, a second-grade class, or a medical school course. It has capabilities for two-way communication between members; for announcing schedules and schedule changes; for reminding you of tasks; for sharing useful web links with other members; and for submitting text information electronically. 
Nicenet also provides opportunity to teachers to connect with their long distance students. It works entirely via the internet browser without making any further software demands on teachers or students.

Classroom That I would have:
I would like to use nicenet  for  the students of secondary class. They can join my class even if they are in long distance area. Naw a days most of the students have access to internet so they can use nicenet at home and the students who have not the facility of internet can share with their friends. With this class I can develop collaborative classroom. Everybody finds it useful is at liberty to use it. The students will be able to participate actively.  Insprid by our Nice net classroom, I think that my students will be so motivated and they will be eager to learn more. Nicenet would help them to concentrate on the the study and it become more interesting for them to learn with the web browser.

The kind of course that I would like to run in my classroom
Nicenet’s Internet Classroom Assistant (ICA) is a simple course management tool that allows you to add basic Web-based components to your class. Nicenet provides facility of conferencing, share linking, document sharing, class schedule ,class members, personal message. I would like to create class on the nicenet in which the students can actively participate on a subject. The teacher can put a subject to  debate and the students can argue and also see the argue of other students. Conferencing also enables group discussion and collaboration where a small number of students can work together in a separate conference.   This is especially useful when students are working together on small group projects.

The teacher can post Internet resources for their students.  To do so, you must type in the url or -- the easiest and most accurate way -- copy and paste the url directly from the location bar in your browser. To do the latter, go to the link sharing section, and click on add link.  Now, open another window in your Web browser and go to the Web site that you want to add.  Right click (use the right button on your mouse) on the url in the location bar, and copy the url.  Now, minimize this browser window and in the first window where Nicenet is open, paste the url directly into it.  Note that you can also add a description of the Web site. Nice net is very useful tools for language learning. -I can also  post homework assignments by clicking on Assignments. They can choose to send an automatic e-mail reminder to students and can choose the number of days before the due date to send this reminder. Students can then submit their homework by clicking on the Assignments prompt.
Conlusion
In conclude, nicenet is one of the best site for creating own classroom and join the classes thet you like to join. With the help of Nicenet Teachers can share important links to their students and lead them to a new world of learning.

summary on podcasting for ELT

Podcasting is used to record the audio with the help of internet and publish it on the internet. We can also download   and listen the music on a portable mp3 player of any type. These days podcasting has become very popular way of listening and producing their own audios by just accessing the internet. It also helpful for the students of ELT.

There are also some more podcasts for educators and teachers. Comprehensible Input and Bit by Bit are useful podcasts for ELT. Ed Tech Talk is a general show about educational technology.
Using podcasts in the classroom
Podcasts is one of the interesting way to teach in the classroom. They can download the podcast and transfer  to a portable mp3 player. The students can record  their lesson and poem on the podcast and create their own podcasts also. The students can easily use the podcasts by downloading it and be a regular listener.
It become very popular among the young learners as it gives wider opportunity to the students to publish their own show on the internet. They also become aware of their recording and contents.
Requirements for producing own podcasts
The learners need just a pc and microphone. One of the popular tools for recording is audacity that allows you to edit and delete your mistakes.

Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking  is the service to store and share the websites which are very important for the users.  In a social bookmarking system the users  first discover the important website and then save the links to web pages. It is useful web service  for storing the sites which they wants to remember and share.  The users can also tag each of their bookmarks. It is a powerful tool in promoting websites. Libraries have found social bookmarking to be useful as an easy way to provide lists of informative links to patrons. Social bookmarking sites are public and can be saved privately and can also shared with specified people of group.  The users can share their knowledge with this system.

Delicious

Delicious is the site where people can bookmark and store  their important sites. This site was founded by Joshua Schachter in 2003. Delicious is the world’s largest social bookmarking site. In a daily life people  come across many sites which are very useful in future. So  with the use of delicious the users can save and share the pages that they wants to remember. To use the delicious,  the user needs an account on this site and then they can share, save, edit and tag the important sites. There are various options on this site like hotlist, popular and recent on home page which help the user. Users can also keep their bookmarks  private and also can share it.
How it is useful in education

Delicious is one of the site which has become popular in the field of education for learning. This site offers the educators  knowledge sharing solutions and a social platform for interactions and discussions.

summary on wiki article


The November 3 2003 article “what is wiki” written by Nathan Matias shows the details of wikis and how it emerged. Wiki, also Known as Hypertext and Relational database, was first designed by Ward Cunningham and Bo Leuf in 1995. It is a website where any one can contribute. Wiki is useful in collaborative learning. It is a website which does not need any installation. Each page on wiki has an ‘edit’, ‘save’, and ‘link’ option with which any one can edit and link important things. Besides this, it can save the plenty of old copies of our pages. We can also store all our websites content in an internal hypertext database. The process of creating new page on wikis is a simple. In wikis, we can organize pages according to our needs. We can also create communities on wikis. It is the purest form of hypertext available on the web. It is also simple to use wikis in a classroom. Wikis keep track of our all stuff. Wikis also simplify the site organization. 
In this article, Nathan also talks about Notebook. Notebook is equally important tool for sharing and preserving ideas. Notebook can be used to keep track of idea, research, and To Do list. Notebook works much like a web browser with a few nice features.

At the end, according to me, Wiki is very important software and it allows everyone to edit and share the information. It allows users to link pages and document.

A report on 'Wiki in Plain English'

This video is presented by Leele fever Commoncraft. The video'Wiki in Plain English' provides information about the use  of  wiki in our daily life.There are 4 friends in the video. They are planning for a  trip. In the video it  shows that mail is very outdated way for communication and coordination. They can coordinate trip better with the help of latest site wiki. In the mail, all information will be gathered in the inbox only and will not help in coordination. The video shows a short explanation of wikis and how it can be used to coordinate a group.It shows the function of wikis. There are three important buttons which are essential for wiki which are 'Edit' 'Save' and 'Link'.   The group of wiki can edit the information and share with their friends easily.
They can create the list of essential items and also find new and different location for their trip. A wiki can create the world's biggest encyclopedia. The video shows that we can start wiki from three sites: wwwpbwiki.com, www.wetpaint.com, www.wikispaces.com.

I think wiki is very useful site for editing and  saving the information. It allows its users to edit, delete and save the changes. It helps the students to learn faster and better that in the traditional classroom. It helps the teachers to design the collaborative  task for their students. Wiki offers an opportunity for educators to explore their ideas.

The teacher can give various types of activities on wiki. Here is an activity that can make the students  use the wiki. The teacher post a starting of a story on wiki. Then the students have to post the further story by their own. The students can make the story and can also edit the story of other students. They can comment on the other students' posts.
This kind of activity can develop the students' critical thinking and the students can get individual's opinion and different story. They can learn the language with commenting, editing and saving. The students' contributions to the wiki also led them to become much more reflective in their learning.
